Climbing Mt. Kenya for a Worthy Cause
Team Seremala, comprising the trustees and their two daughters, will be taking the Mt. Kenya Challenge in December 2014! We are super excited at the prospect of this event because it will allow us to fund-raise for one of our favourite causes; the care and support for the orphaned secondary school children at Macheo Children's Centre.
The inspiration for this activity came from a recently published story of a ten-year old child who scaled the mountain becoming the youngest Kenyan to scale up to Point Lenana. The directors/trustees had also been strategizing on how to scale-up and create a perpetual, self-sustaining scholarship fund that would increase the capacity of the Foundation to meet the needs of more orphans. This initiative is one of the ways in which we intend to achieve this objective. We are trying to raise funds to create a scholarship fund (approx. KES 10million). The current budget required to support the 11 children we presently support is approximately KES 700,000 per annum. The orphans are currently between high school going age and college.
Seremala Foundation will match each shilling raised through this initiative with one shilling of funds from the foundation up to the tune of KES 1,000,000.
Why do we do this?
- Because it is fun
- Because it is our Christian duty
God has blest us and for this we are fortunate. The children we are supporting are either orphans or live in conditions of abject poverty. At Seremala Foundation, we are also keen to see the culture of extending a helping hand go beyond support for our immediate extended families and become embedded both in our personal and corporate cultures. Cheques should be made payable to Seremala Foundation.
We are looking forward to the support of our friends, family and partners! Help us achieve our target to raising funds in support of this worthy cause.
